  • Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS) 
    • Main purpose is to regulate blood pressure by modulating the kidney's reabsorption of water and salt
      • Occurs through a network of sensors and effector hormones (angiotensin II, aldosterone, and antidiuretic hormone)
    • The enzyme renin cleaves precursor hormone angiotensinogen to form angiotensin I
    • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) then cleaves angiotensin I to form angiotensin II
    • Angiotensin II induces release of hormones aldosterone and ADH
