Summary

Ezetimibe is a second-line lipid lowering drug which works to prevent cholesterol absorption in the intestines. This leads to decreased hepatic cholesterol stores and importantly, decreased LDL levels. Side effects of ezetimibe include GI upset and diarrhea, and in rarer cases, hepatotoxicity.
