  • Trypsin
    • Digestive enzyme produced in pancreas as the precursor trypsinogen 
      • Specific enzyme in a wider class of protein-degrading enzymes, called proteolytic enzymes/proteases/peptidases
    • Activated in duodenum by enteropeptidase (also called enterokinase)
    • Catalyzes the breakdown of proteins in the duodenum by hydrolyzing peptide bonds
      • Trypsin also activates chymotrypsinogen, another pancreatic peptidase, to chymotrypsin
