      • Type II DM (obvious)
    • Adverse Effects
      • Glucosuria (obvious)
      • (urinary tract) infections
        • UTIs / yeast infections
        • Microbes love sugar.
      • Hyperkalemia
      • Osmotic diuresis
        • Secondary to solute in the tubule.
        • Can cause dehydration → orthostatic hypotension 
      • Not recommended in patients with kidney damage
        • Check BUN/Cr levels before starting
        • Decreased efficiency in patients with decreased GFR
        • In cases of renal insufficiency, dosage should be adjusted
      • Weight loss
        • Osmotic diuresis → fluid loss → weight loss
        • Glucosuria → lost calories → weight loss
