The Anal Stage is the 2nd stage of Freud’s psychosexual development model, and is exhibited by toddlers during their second year of life. The anus is the primary erogenous zone. The primary urge associated with the anus is the need to defecate, and successful completion of this stage occurs when a person becomes properly potty-trained, resulting in the development of independence and self-control.
